The Russian and Chinese navies took a step to increase their joint military presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The warships of the two countries completed the joint naval exercise called 'Maritime Interaction-2026' and immediately afterward began patrol activities in the region's waters.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday, July 14, that the closing ceremony of the exercise was held at China's Qingdao naval base. At the ceremony, the Russian side's leader Rear Admiral Sergey Sinko and the Chinese side's leader Rear Admiral Qiu Wensheng each delivered a speech.
Rear Admiral Sinko stated that the experience gained during the exercise would be in demand in future maritime activities and would make a significant contribution to strengthening Russia-China cooperation.
The ministry announced that immediately after the closing ceremony, some ships set sail into the Yellow Sea and formed a joint Russian-Chinese fleet. The statement noted that this fleet began patrolling the waters of the Asia-Pacific region.
