In the US capital Washington D.C., a helicopter belonging to the Air Force made an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue. During the incident on Monday night, the pilots of the UH-1N helicopter heard "strange mechanical sounds" during a routine training flight.
US Air Force Public Affairs Chief Ann Stefanek said the crew detected a potential issue and made a precautionary landing as per their training. Stefanek said, "After hearing strange mechanical sounds, they landed with an abundance of caution as they were trained to do. There is no damage or injuries."
The helicopter, assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron based at Joint Base Andrews, had four personnel on board. The landing took place near the German Embassy. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Metropolitan Police Department, were dispatched to the scene.
Officials reported that the helicopter landed safely and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
