A crew consisting of two Russian cosmonauts and a US astronaut completed their mission aboard the International Space Station and prepared for their return journey to Earth. According to a live broadcast by Russia's Federal Space Agency Roscosmos, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikayev and Christopher Williams boarded the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft and closed the hatches between the station and the vehicle.
Soyuz MS-28 is scheduled to undock from the ISS at 9:55 a.m. Turkish time. After reaching a safe distance, its braking engine will fire and the vehicle will enter the atmosphere. The descent capsule is expected to land in the Kazakh steppe around 12:50 p.m. Turkish time.
Sergey Kud-Sverchkov had been serving as ISS commander since January 12. He took over the role from US astronaut Michael Fink, and has now been succeeded by Russian cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov.
