Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak said Russian oil companies are ready to send diesel to the US and that talks on the commercial terms are ongoing. Novak said the shipments could begin within 2–3 weeks.
Speaking to journalists during Russian Energy Week in Moscow, Novak said the shipment would require the contract to be signed, the fuel to be loaded, a vessel to be chartered and the product to be delivered to the consumer. Novak said all these procedures take 2–3 weeks and noted that the agreements should be signed more quickly.

Novak said other countries besides the US were also interested in Russian diesel, adding that the product was in demand worldwide.

Responding to a question about whether the price of the diesel sold to the US would be set according to market conditions or at a discount, Novak said pricing was part of the commercial negotiations.
Novak also said no talks had yet been held on extending the US license for imports of Russian diesel beyond April 2027, adding that it was too early to assess an extension. He said it remained to be seen how the process would develop.
