Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek evaluated Türkiye's June industrial production index, highlighting the growing importance of high-value-added and technology-intensive production in the country's manufacturing sector.
Şimşek said Türkiye's industrial production increased by 1.9% year-on-year in the second quarter despite challenging conditions in the global economy.
HIGH-TECH PRODUCTION RISES 3.9%
Highlighting developments in the technological structure of industrial production, Şimşek said output in high-technology sectors increased by 3.9% year-on-year in the second quarter.
He also noted that the share of medium-high and high-technology products in Türkiye's manufacturing exports reached 44.5% as of June.
The figures point to the increasing weight of technology-intensive products in the country's export composition.

ŞİMŞEK HIGHLIGHTS GROWTH IN VALUE-ADDED PRODUCTION
Şimşek said the strong increase in value-added production and the improvement in the composition of exports were concrete indicators of the ongoing transformation in Türkiye's industrial sector.
He added that productivity-oriented policies and industrial transformation programs are aimed at further strengthening Türkiye's position in global value chains.
INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION GROWS IN SECOND QUARTER
The latest figures show that Türkiye's industrial sector recorded annual production growth in the second quarter despite uncertainties in global trade and challenging external demand conditions.
The performance of high-technology industries was particularly notable, with their 3.9% annual production growth exceeding the overall increase in industrial output.
The share of medium-high and high-technology products in manufacturing exports reaching 44.5% also stands out as an important indicator of Türkiye's efforts to increase the proportion of higher-value-added products in its exports.
Şimşek said Türkiye would continue pursuing policies aimed at improving productivity, supporting technological transformation in industry and strengthening the country's position in global value chains.
