SpaceX plans to build a new space base in the U.S. state of Louisiana called Starbase, Louisiana. The $100 billion facility is expected to play an important role in the company's goal of conducting spaceflights more frequently.
The base is intended to support thousands of launches each year and increase the number of Starship missions. Once completed, the project will create SpaceX's fourth and largest launch complex.
More than 11,000 jobs are expected
SpaceX expects the project to create 3,000 direct and more than 8,000 indirect jobs over the next 10 years.
Five launch complexes are planned for the facility. Each complex will include two launch pads and a fuel facility.
The project will also include fuel and electricity production facilities, a complex for servicing spacecraft, and housing for employees and their families.

First launch planned for 2029
Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the first launch from the Starbase, Louisiana facility scheduled for 2029.
SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk said they were preparing to build a space base of the kind seen so far only in science fiction.
Musk said SpaceX was created with the aim of building a future in which humanity can explore the stars. He said this goal would become possible when spaceflight becomes as routine as air travel.
Musk also said the planned Starbase, Louisiana facility would pave the way to the future.
