A boat was struck in the Caribbean as part of a campaign against cartel networks in the Western Hemisphere. The US military announced that four people were killed in the operation on Tuesday.
US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said the targeted speedboat was traveling along known drug-trafficking routes in the Caribbean. The command described the operation as a "lethal kinetic strike."
SOUTHCOM said intelligence confirmed that the boat was actively involved in drug-trafficking activities. The command also released declassified footage of the strike.
SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan said that "precise and lethal operations" against the cartels would continue. Donovan said drug-terrorism networks would be tracked, their activities disrupted and ultimately defeated.
