TAASNY Academy launches "Think Like an Actor" workshop at Türkevi in New York

The Turkish American Arts Society of New York's academy will run a six-week acting workshop led by Prof. M. Melih Korukçu, known as the "Actor's Doctor," at Türkevi on Mondays from November 16 to December 21.

TAASNY Academy, the training arm of the Turkish American Arts Society of New York, is launching a new six-week workshop, "Oyuncu Gibi Düşünmek" (Think Like an Actor), led by Prof. M. Melih Korukçu, known in Türkiye as the "Oyuncu Doktoru" (Actor's Doctor).

The workshop will meet on Mondays from November 16 to December 21, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Türkevi (Turkish House) in New York, for a total of 18 hours. Sessions cover mental and emotional preparation, dramaturgy and character analysis, the relationship between objective and action, focus and performance.

Korukçu is an academic, dramaturg and writer who taught in the Drama and Acting Department of Istanbul Aydın University from 2009 to 2025. He has also worked for many years with professional actors in Türkiye's TV series industry, coaching them on performance, mental preparation and emotional control.

The workshop is open to acting students, aspiring and professional actors, and anyone interested in approaching acting from a different angle. Pre-registration is open with limited places at taasny.org/oyuncu-gibi-dusunmek.
