US President Donald Trump halted a planned military operation against Iran at the last moment. In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked him for time to reach an agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and eliminate Iran's nuclear threat.
Trump said, "Upon this request, for the future of the world and for Iran to remain successful and prosperous, I agreed to cancel the attack; but this is conditional on reaching a swift agreement," and stressed that his country is ready to act at any moment.
Trump said that Israel also supported his decision to suspend the attack. He reiterated that the decision remains conditional on the parties reaching a swift agreement.
The US President had stated last Friday that they would strike Iran with "blows so severe they cannot withstand them" and claimed that the war with Iran was "going very well" for the US.
In a 13-day period that lasted until last July, mutual military attacks occurred between the US and Iran. While Washington struck targets inside Iran, Tehran targeted American military facilities in Arab countries such as Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
