Invitations were sent to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for the G20 Summit to be held in Miami at the end of 2026. U.S. President Donald Trump invited the leaders of the two non-G20 member states, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the summit.
The invitation process began after Trump held phone calls with Tokayev and Mirziyoyev in December 2025. The invitations announced by Trump were later formalized, and the two leaders are expected to attend the summit as leaders of guest countries.
Washington’s interest in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is linked to growing cooperation with the two countries on trade, transport corridors and critical mineral resources.
