Trump says he could meet Kim Jong-un during Asia trip
U.S. President Donald Trump said he could meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his Asia trip. Leaving the White House for Ohio, Trump said he gets along well with Kim Jong-un.
U.S. President Donald Trump left open the possibility of meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un again during his Asia trip.
Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for Ohio, Trump said he gets along well with Kim Jong-un and that he could meet him during the planned trip.
Trump's Asia itinerary
Trump is scheduled to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in the Philippines on November 16. The U.S. president is then expected to travel to Shenzhen, China.
Trump will also attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, which will be held in Shenzhen from November 17 to 19.
Previous contacts with Kim Jong-un
Trump and Kim Jong-un held several historic meetings during Trump's first presidential term as they sought to address North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
A new meeting between Trump and Kim Jong-un could mark the beginning of a new phase in efforts to establish direct contact with the North Korean leader.
