U.S. President Donald Trump made statements on his social media account regarding the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran. Trump claimed that the Iranian side "fully and unconditionally" accepted the "highest level and indefinite" inspections of its nuclear program.
Trump alleged that Iranian officials and media are trying to "downplay" the gains achieved by the United States. The U.S. President said, "Iran has fully and unconditionally accepted the highest-level inspection of its nuclear program for an indefinite period, meaning forever. This will ensure 'nuclear honesty'."
Trump emphasized that if Iran had rejected this condition, the negotiations would be considered concluded. The U.S. President stated that, based on this and other significant concessions by Iran, he allowed the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and that the naval blockade would no longer be enforced. Trump added that for now, a blockade seems unlikely, but all ships will remain in place if needed.
Iranian assets and humanitarian aid
The U.S. President announced that Iranian assets to be released by the Treasury Department and the funds resulting from the lifting of sanctions would be transferred to a U.S.-controlled account. He noted that these funds would be used to purchase food and medical supplies from American producers.
Drawing attention to Iran's need for food products such as corn, wheat, and soybeans, Trump assessed, "This is a humanitarian crisis and I believe help should be given now before it is too late. The negotiations are going well."
Oil record in the Strait of Hormuz
In another post, Trump announced that 19 million barrels of oil were transported through the Strait of Hormuz on June 22, calling it a "record." The U.S. President expressed the view that "Oil prices are falling and the world is becoming safer."
