A Turkish family living in Virginia is facing a heartbreaking crisis after Halil İbrahim Bayram was critically injured in a serious traffic accident earlier this month.
According to a GoFundMe campaign created on behalf of the family, Bayram lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife and child. On the night of August 2, he was involved in a devastating crash on Memorial Highway.
He was rushed to the hospital at around 1:00 a.m. and was admitted to the intensive care unit, where he remains intubated and in critical condition.
He Has Already Undergone Two Surgeries
The fundraising page states that Bayram has already undergone two surgeries following the accident and is expected to require additional medical procedures.
His condition remains serious, and the family continues to wait anxiously for signs of improvement.
The campaign describes the situation as life-threatening and says Bayram’s recovery process could be long and uncertain.
His Wife Is Pregnant With Their Second Child
The accident has also placed the family under severe financial and emotional strain.
Bayram’s wife is pregnant with the couple’s second child and is expected to give birth in approximately one month, according to the fundraiser.
Because of her pregnancy, she is currently unable to work, leaving the household without a regular source of income while her husband remains hospitalized.
The family is now struggling with rent, daily living costs and other basic expenses as they deal with Bayram’s medical emergency.
Community Launches Support Campaign
A GoFundMe campaign titled “Support Halil Bayram’s Family After Accident” was launched by Hakan Sahan on August 4.
The campaign says donations will be used to help cover rent, household bills, living expenses and the daily needs of Bayram’s pregnant wife and child while he remains in critical condition.
As of the latest update, the campaign had raised more than $13,000 toward an $18,000 goal, with hundreds of people contributing to the family’s support effort.
Family Asks for Prayers and Support
Members of the Turkish-American community have also shared Bayram’s story on social media, calling on people to keep him in their prayers and to support the fundraising campaign.
For Bayram’s family, the coming days remain critical as doctors continue his treatment and monitor his condition.
