Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a new recruitment process for candidates seeking a career in diplomacy.
According to the Ministry’s official announcement for the 2026 Candidate Consular and Specialized Officer (KİM) Entrance Examination, up to 80 candidates may be appointed across several recruitment categories.
One of the most notable aspects of the recruitment process is that applicants are not required to submit a KPSS score, Türkiye’s nationwide public personnel selection examination.
However, the absence of a KPSS requirement does not mean candidates will be recruited without an examination. Applicants must meet education, foreign-language and other eligibility requirements and successfully complete the Ministry’s competitive entrance examination process.
Applications Open Until September 17
Applications opened on August 18 and will close at 12:00 p.m. on September 17, 2026.
Candidates must submit their applications electronically through Türkiye’s e-Government system via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ public recruitment service on the Career Gate platform.
Applications submitted through methods other than those specified in the official announcement will not be accepted.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates must be Turkish citizens and must not have reached the age of 35 as of January 1, 2026. This means applicants born on or after January 1, 1991 meet the age requirement.
Education and foreign-language requirements vary depending on the recruitment category.
Applicants are required to meet the academic qualifications specified for their chosen category and demonstrate the required level of foreign-language proficiency.
The recruitment announcement includes categories covering a wide range of languages, including English, German, Arabic, French, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian and Hebrew.
Written Examination to Be Held in Ankara
The written stage of the entrance examination is scheduled to take place in Ankara on October 3, 2026.
The written examination evaluates candidates through sections covering Turkish composition or field knowledge, composition or field knowledge in a foreign language, and translation from Turkish into the relevant foreign language.
Candidates who successfully pass the written stage will proceed to subsequent assessments, including a personality inventory and reasoning and analytical ability tests, followed by an oral examination.
Successful Candidates Will Enter a Diplomatic Career
Consular and Specialized Officers are diplomatic career officials who can serve both at the Ministry’s headquarters and Türkiye’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Their responsibilities may include consular and protocol affairs, economic and cultural relations, public diplomacy, administrative and financial affairs, electronic consular services, information technologies and other areas requiring specialized expertise.
The Ministry officially defines Consular and Specialized Officers as diplomatic career officials who also perform representational duties on behalf of Türkiye.
Successful candidates may be appointed to positions within grades 7 to 9 of the General Administrative Services class, in accordance with the conditions specified in the official recruitment announcement.
Candidates planning to apply are advised to carefully review the education, foreign-language and category-specific requirements before submitting their applications.
