At Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, two Delta Air Lines planes had a near collision on the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation into the dangerous close call.
According to the FAA's statement, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Monday. Delta flight 2472, which was taking off, cut off Delta flight 1568, which was performing a go-around due to another plane that was slow to vacate the same runway.

In air traffic control recordings obtained by CBS News, collision avoidance warning alarms can be heard sounding in the cockpit, and one pilot can be heard saying, 'Oh my God.'
"With safety at the core of everything, the crew of Delta flight 1568 executed a go-around during approach to Atlanta due to potential traffic on the runway. The crew maneuvered in accordance with established procedures to maintain separation from other air traffic," Delta Air Lines said in a written statement.
The airline stated that the flight landed safely and passengers deplaned normally. Delta added that its crew receives extensive training for such rare scenarios. As the FAA continues its investigation, Delta said it will fully cooperate with authorities.
