The US plans to initiate technical talks with Iran at the earliest opportunity. The White House stated that this goal remains unchanged despite the cancellation of Vice President JD Vance's trip to Switzerland.
Vance had confirmed on Thursday that he would lead the American delegation in talks with Iran. He mentioned that the delegation was scheduled to travel to Switzerland over the weekend, but the departure time from the US depended on when the Tehran representatives arrived there.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry commented on the initial plans for a signing ceremony in Switzerland, stating that the agreement had already been signed by the presidents of both countries and that an additional ceremony was unnecessary. However, the ministry also conveyed that Iran plans to participate in the talks with the US.
Iran and the US signed a remote agreement on the night of June 18. This agreement is reported to aim at ending the military conflict that began on February 28.
