The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the end of the six-day intense wave of strikes in its military operations against Iran. The statement said the final major wave was completed at 9:40 p.m. Eastern Time (4:40 a.m. Turkey time).

During the operations, warplanes, drones, and warships were used to target Iran's military infrastructure. CENTCOM noted that the targets included coastal observation posts, air defense systems, military logistics facilities, and naval capabilities. It was emphasized that the strikes were carried out for the sixth consecutive night.
This US move came after the collapse of the ceasefire between the two countries. The ceasefire, which began with a memorandum of understanding signed on June 18, 2026, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, was ended by US President Donald Trump on July 8, 2026. The reason for Trump's decision was that Iran had targeted three ships the previous day that were passing through the Strait of Hormuz and, Iran claimed, had not followed the designated route.
The Washington administration supports a different route for commercial ships passing through the strait than the one imposed by Iran. Tehran, however, rejects this stance and threatens to strike any ship that does not coordinate with it before passing through the strategic waterway.
