Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate will remain at a federal prison in Miami for at least two more weeks. Federal Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis postponed the hearing on their bail request to August 13.
The brothers’ attorney, Joseph McBride, said his clients have “a target on their backs” in prison. “The public is giving a green light for them to be killed in prison,” McBride said. Andrew and Tristan Tate remain in US custody while extradition proceedings to the UK continue.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service has brought 38 new charges against the brothers, including rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offenses related to indecent images of children. Facing a total of 59 separate charges, the brothers deny all allegations.
Allegations regarding prison conditions
Despite his detention, Andrew Tate continues to post on X. In a Sunday post, he claimed human rights violations, alleging he has no access to clean drinking water. Stating he is being held in the Special Housing Unit, Tate said: “My faucet is broken. I’m not allowed to keep bottled water in SHU. I have nothing clean to drink.”
The Tate brothers were arrested in Romania in 2022 on similar charges, including trafficking of minors and sexual abuse. Their defense team argues they pose no flight risk, noting they have regularly attended court hearings in Romania.
British authorities must submit a full extradition request by mid-September. A US judge will assess whether the request meets the evidentiary threshold. If bail is denied, the brothers will remain in custody throughout the process, which could take up to a year. The Tate brothers were arrested by US authorities on July 18.
