US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington is ready to mediate to end the war following Russia's warning that it will carry out new attacks on Ukraine and that foreign diplomats should leave Kiev. Among Russia's intense weekend attacks on Ukraine was the hypersonic Oreshnik missile. These attacks include threats to target decision-making centers in Ukraine's capital, Kiev. During his visit to India, Rubio emphasized that this war has lasted longer than World War II and must end. As a result of Russia's attacks, one person died in Odesa, four people were killed in Kiev, and many were injured. Russia claimed it retaliated by ordering an attack on a vocational school in the Lugansk region of Ukraine under Russian occupation. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov requested the evacuation of US diplomats from Kiev during a phone call with Rubio. However, Western diplomatic missions rejected these calls. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga described Russia's threats as "rhetoric" and called on partners not to succumb to such pressures. Russia's full-scale attack launched in February 2022 continues as Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II.
