According to Israeli Channel 13, the US administration will demand that Israel stop the violence by settlers and Israeli soldiers against Palestinians in the West Bank.
According to information attributed to unnamed US sources in the report, the US administration is deeply concerned about the increase in incidents it describes as "nationalist-motivated crimes" in the West Bank and repeated reports documenting Israeli soldiers' attacks on Palestinians.
Among the US demands is that Israel provide an explanation and report on the law enforcement measures it has taken against these violations. The US administration believes the current situation requires greater oversight and monitoring.
These demands are expected to be raised at the summit between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, scheduled for Washington next week.
The US demands are not limited to the security dimension. Washington will also ask Israel to ease military checkpoints, take economic steps to support the Palestinian Authority, and make efforts to reduce violence.
Meanwhile, according to official Palestinian data, the Israeli army and settlers carried out 1,659 attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in May. Of these attacks, 1,108 were carried out by the army and 551 by settlers.
The attacks included direct physical violence, uprooting of trees, burning of fields, blocking farmers' access to their land, confiscation of property, and demolition of homes and agricultural structures.
Since October 8, 2023, as a result of the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, 1,173 Palestinians have lost their lives, 12,666 have been injured, approximately 23,000 have been detained, and 33,000 have been displaced.
