Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said claims that CIA Director John Ratcliffe had been unable to meet Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow and that the Russian leader had rejected the meeting did not reflect the truth.
Ushakov said no meeting had been planned between Ratcliffe and Putin. He said the CIA director had met with the heads of Russia’s intelligence agencies and commented on the nature of those contacts.

The content of the meetings was not disclosed
Ushakov said the meetings in Moscow were confidential and entirely official. He said it was not possible for him to provide information about or comment on their content.
Western media had previously reported claims that Ratcliffe had traveled to Moscow to negotiate with Putin, but that the Russian president had rejected the meeting.

Peskov also said there had been no meeting with Putin
Ratcliffe made a surprise visit to Moscow on Aug. 25 and met with personnel from Russia’s special services.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the CIA director had not met with Putin and that the visit concerned contacts between the intelligence services.
