Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that he would continue implementing his plan to send Palestinians in Gaza to other countries.
In a post on his X account Saturday, Ben-Gvir said he would advance the plan he presented to the public two days earlier and would not back down from it. The plan calls for all Palestinians in Gaza to be sent to other countries as part of what it describes as "voluntary migration."
Numbers outlined in the plan
At a news conference Thursday, Ben-Gvir outlined the plan's details, including the establishment of a dedicated Israeli ministry to implement it and the provision of funding to offer settlement packages to countries that accept the plan.
The plan aims to remove 250,000 Palestinians from Gaza in its first year. That number is planned to rise to approximately 1.11 million within three years and approximately 1.86 million within seven years. More than 2.2 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip.
Other goals announced by Ben-Gvir
In the same post, Ben-Gvir also said he aimed to strengthen Israeli sovereignty over the Noble Sanctuary, known as Al-Aqsa Mosque, tighten prison conditions for Palestinian detainees and introduce the death penalty for "terrorists."
The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs said Wednesday that Israeli authorities and settlers had increased violations against Islamic holy sites in August. The ministry said 26 incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque had taken place during the same period.
Ben-Gvir also claimed that he had been the target of 10 assassination attempts because of his policies and that his family had been threatened.
