Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont has called on the United States to stop all military aid to Israel after President Donald Trump endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel's Oct. 27 election.
"Trump just endorsed Netanyahu. No surprise. One authoritarian helping another stay in power," Sanders wrote in a social media post on Monday. He said the two leaders together wanted never-ending war in the Middle East, adding: "More destruction. More genocide."
"We must stop all military aid to Israel," Sanders said, also calling for an end to Republican control of Congress.

Trump's 'complete and total endorsement'
A day earlier, Trump declared his "Complete and Total Endorsement" of Netanyahu's bid for re-election in a lengthy Truth Social post, praising the Israeli leader's partnership with Washington, particularly on confronting Iran. Trump warned that the United States could be forced to take on that burden itself if Israelis chose another leader.
Sanders, a longtime critic of the Netanyahu government, has repeatedly forced Senate votes on resolutions to block arms sales to Israel over the war in Gaza.
