Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday that the unilateral sanctions on Iran should be lifted. "We believe that the unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran should be lifted as soon as possible," Guo said.
The Chinese spokesperson stated that they support the ongoing dialogue between Tehran and Washington, and expressed hope that the parties would jointly implement the memorandum of understanding and advance negotiations to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the situation in Iran.
According to a report by the Iran-based Mehr News agency, the 14-point memorandum of understanding ended the joint war waged by the US and Israel against Iran. The agreement also provides for the release of Iran's frozen assets and the lifting of restrictions on oil trade.
The parties agreed on a 60-day roadmap to reach a final agreement during high-level talks in Switzerland on June 22. As part of the negotiations, a High-Level Committee was also established, to be supported by specialized working groups on nuclear issues and sanctions relief.
