Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş, president of Türkiye's Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), is on an official visit to the United States to review Diyanet's services in the country and to meet the Turkish American community and American Muslim religious leaders, Diyanet said.
His first stop was the Diyanet Center of America in Lanham, Maryland, where he was briefed by religious services counselor Assoc. Prof. Fatih Kanca. He then visited the Turkish Embassy in Washington, thanked Ambassador Sedat Önal for his support, and met religious services attachés serving in different states. Arpaguş delivered the Friday sermon at the center's mosque, led the prayer and visited its Montessori school and Quran memorization classes.

At an evening gathering with the Turkish community, he gave a lecture titled "Our Spiritual Values, Our Family and Our Future" and urged vigilance against FETÖ, the group Türkiye holds responsible for the 2016 coup attempt, and similar organizations. He said such divisive movements harm the community's unity and brotherhood by pulling young people away from their families and using them for "dirty and evil aims."
At a separate gathering with imams, representatives of Islamic organizations and religious community leaders at the center, Arpaguş warned that young people increasingly learn about faith online. "Today, accessing information is extremely easy, but accessing accurate information has never been harder," he said. He noted that 38 mosques and prayer spaces in the United States operate under or in cooperation with Diyanet, describing the Diyanet Center of America as "the apple of our eye."

During the visit, Arpaguş is also expected to meet imams serving in the United States and leaders of Ahiska Turkish associations, open a mosque in Rochester and attend the general assemblies of local foundations.
