Iran and US hold talks in New York lasting nearly three hours
Iran conveyed demands for an end to the war, an end to the US’s aggressive actions and economic warfare, and the release of Iranian assets during talks with a US delegation in New York mediated by Qatar. Senior representatives from Iran and the US attended the meeting, which lasted nearly three hours.
Iranian and US representatives in New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly met under Qatar’s mediation. The Iranian side conveyed its demands to the US delegation.
Baghaei, who outlined Iran’s conditions, said the priority was ending the war in all areas. The demands also included an end to the US’s aggressive actions, naval blockade and economic warfare, as well as the release of Iranian assets.
US President Donald Trump said a meeting with representatives of the Iranian delegation had taken place in New York and lasted nearly three hours, adding that the talks had gone very well.
The meeting was attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Trump’s special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. It took place at the persistent request of US officials.
