Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, argued that the West was using Ukraine to wage a proxy war against Russia and aimed to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow.
In a statement on August 19, Yo Jong said the confrontational approach of the Western bloc in Europe was prolonging the armed conflict and pushing the situation into a more serious phase.
Warning over unpredictability and geopolitical crises
Yo Jong said the international environment was becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable, adding that this trend was intensifying geopolitical crises in various parts of the world.
According to Yo Jong, these developments had caused serious concern among the international community seeking peace and stability.
Putin’s assessment
Russian President Vladimir Putin had also previously said that Ukraine and its allies in Europe aimed to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia on the battlefield.
Putin said this approach stemmed from a lack of objective information about the actual situation on the front.
