Armenian-American Los Angeles City Councilmember Adrin Nazarian reacted to the "Turkish Vibe Zone" event area set up in downtown Los Angeles.
Regarding the structure placed in Grand Park directly across from City Hall, Nazarian said, "The Republic of Turkey erected a large structure with the words 'Turkey is Here!' in Grand Park right across from our City Hall. This is an insult to Armenians."
The "Turkish Vibe Zone" was launched with the support of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications to promote Turkish culture as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The event, spread over an area of 3,050 square meters within Gloria Molina Grand Park, is welcoming visitors from June 18 to 26.
Nazarian's outburst was recorded as the first political criticism of the event's cultural promotion mission.
