Former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that high-level strategy meetings had been held to consider the use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
In a post published on X on Sunday, Greene said her assessment was not based on speculation and described the situation as “pure evil.” However, she provided no evidence to support her claim.
Claim about lowering the nuclear threshold
Greene also claimed that the U.S. administration was considering lowering the threshold for using nuclear weapons. The former representative linked this claim to President Donald Trump’s statements that the war had been won and that Washington had gained control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Greene accused the administration of ignoring internal intelligence assessments that said Tehran was not close to developing nuclear weapons, claiming instead that Israel’s allegations had been favored.
Warning over energy corridors and nuclear conflict
Greene also claimed that the military campaign she said had emerged had caused widespread civilian suffering and that Iran had gained control over regional energy corridors.
Warning that a possible escalation could turn into a global “nuclear genocide,” Greene said such a development could cause an economic depression and an unprecedented loss of life. Addressing the public, Greene said, “America is not invulnerable,” and called for an end to what she described as “madness.”
Greene said current leaders would be held responsible before history if a nuclear conflict occurred. The White House did not immediately respond to the claims.
