Outrage over Thursday’s ICE shooting in Marble Hill grew overnight as protesters massed outside the hospital where the wounded man was being treated and city leaders lined up to condemn the operation. Video shows an ICE vehicle nearly running over protesters as it left NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, possibly carrying the man agents had shot.
The man, identified by amNY as 28-year-old Oscar Belgal, was struck in the neck below his left ear. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at least one agent fired seven rounds and that the NYPD had no involvement in the federal operation before the shooting. NYPD officers drove him in a patrol car to Allen Hospital, where he arrived in stable condition. His 5-year-old son, in the back seat, was not hurt.
"For the past two hours, I have been on the phone with President Trump and Secretary Mullin, negotiating the release of the man ICE agents shot. Those negotiations were unsuccessful," Mamdani said. Federal agents then took the man out of the hospital in an unmarked vehicle, and his whereabouts were unclear. The mayor also criticized agents for wearing construction-style vests and face masks: "There is no explanation for federal officers firing this many rounds into a car that has a five-year-old in the car."
Officials pile on

Gov. Kathy Hochul urged Trump and Mullin to halt ICE operations in New York and demanded the release of body camera footage. U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat said federal agents denied him access to the hospital.
"We want ICE the [expletive] out of our neighborhood! I am pissed off, I am outraged, ICE does not belong in the Bronx or anywhere in this city!" Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson told the crowd.
DHS said the man had prior arrests for assault, robbery, drugs and weapons and alleged gang ties, claims that have not been independently verified.
A night of protest at Allen Hospital
Hundreds of people, more than 300 by some counts, gathered outside the hospital in Inwood. Protesters blocked and banged on patrol vehicles, and the NYPD put up barriers to push the crowd back as scuffles broke out.

"Who stood up for you when ICE came? Where were the people you elected? Did they deliver on any of those promises?" one protester asked the crowd, calling for politicians to be held accountable.
Another protester called out the governor and the mayor directly: "Governor Hochul and Mamdani, what’s going on? We praise you for the potholes... let’s do something about the situation right now!"
"These kids... I see them every day! They’re scared! They’re not supposed to be scared!" a third protester said of the fear ICE raids are spreading in immigrant neighborhoods.
A witness, Cynthia Michelle, told CBS New York that the boy was screaming for his father after the shooting, yelling: "Why are you guys killing my father?"
