A photograph published online purportedly shows F-35 fighter jets produced for Türkiye being kept in a hangar in the United States. Taken through a chain-link fence, the image shows several F-35s with their canopies, tails and landing gear wrapped in orange protective covering.
It was not possible to independently verify where or when the photo was taken, or whether the aircraft are the ones built for Türkiye. No Turkish markings are clearly visible in the image.
Removed from the program in 2019

Türkiye, both a partner and a buyer in the F-35 program, was removed from it by the United States in 2019 over its purchase of Russia’s S-400 air defense system. Jets that had been built for Türkiye before the decision were never delivered.
Türkiye’s possible return to the F-35 program has come back onto the agenda in talks between Ankara and Washington in recent months.
