Following statements about damage at some logistics facilities in the Moscow region, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine’s attacks on infrastructure in Russia had caused damage but no critical consequences.
Putin spoke at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects held in Moscow on Wednesday. The Russian leader asked the government to prepare a program to rebuild the damaged infrastructure to a higher standard.
These kinds of attacks have no critical consequences, and they have not had any. However, they are certainly causing us harm; that is clear, and we understand, see and know it.
Growth in the Russian economy
Putin said growth in the Russian economy was limited but positive, and announced that gross domestic product had increased by approximately 1 percent overall.
According to figures provided by Putin, growth stood at 0.6 percent in the first half of the year and 1.3 percent in the second quarter. Putin linked the pace of economic growth to various factors, including external pressure and Ukraine’s attacks on industrial and infrastructure facilities.
Call to strengthen sovereignty and security
Putin said Russia’s sovereignty needed to be strengthened and called for greater efficiency in the areas of defense, security and socioeconomic policy.
Damage at Wildberries facilities
Russian e-commerce company Wildberries said some logistics facilities in the Moscow region had been damaged in Ukrainian drone attacks carried out in recent weeks.
The company said it was able to redirect deliveries and shipments to other facilities after evacuating employees from the affected sites.
