Known as a TikTok personality in Oklahoma, Sara Gilson was found dead in her home shortly after accusing her husband of pedophilia. The Owasso Police Department stated that they found the lifeless bodies of Gilson and her husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, at the home they responded to on July 23 following a domestic violence report. It was reported that the incident is being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide.
During the 911 call that prompted the responding teams, the emergency operator reported hearing a woman screaming and crying in the background. The operator relayed that a male subject said he was “wanted after being caught kissing a child a few weeks ago.” The call records also captured a loud bang.
According to local media reports, a child in the home called 911 and said that “her stepfather shot her mother.”
In a post on her TikTok account on July 11, Sara Gilson said of Jeremiah Shawn Duffey: “Netflix is making a documentary about my ex-husband, who I just found out is a pedophile.” Gilson had also obtained an emergency protection order against Duffey, and a police report had been filed regarding allegations that he kissed and fondled a young girl.
Gilson's ex-husband Lyle Landers told People magazine that he had been begging her for years to get away from that man. Landers said, “Her trying to protect the children ultimately led to her death.”
Police noted that Duffey was a basketball coach and had previously faced similar accusations, and that the case has been referred to federal prosecutors.
