Shakira has denied the fake images shared using her name related to the upcoming Colombian presidential election. The artist clarified that she does not support any candidate and has not authorized the use of her image in any campaigns.
Her name resurfaced especially after posts linking her to candidate Iván Cepeda. The images circulating on social media claimed to show the singer alongside Cepeda and his running mate Aida Quilcué.
She Rejected the Fake Images
Shakira emphasized that the circulated images are not real and that she does not stand by any political candidate. She also stated that she has not approved the use of her image for any campaign.
The posts included references to Shakira’s fan community. Images prepared with allusions such as "Wolfpack" and "La Manada de Lobos" attempted to create the impression that the artist was endorsing the candidate.
These posts appeared on X and were later removed. The images contained phrases like "La Manada de Lobos joins the Colombia cause" and "Wolfpack with Pacto Histórico."
Controversy Linked to the Colombian Election
Shakira’s name had previously been linked to Iván Cepeda, but no statement confirming this connection was made. These recent posts stood out as a new attempt to strengthen the perception that the artist was involved in the election process.
In her statement, Shakira said her focus is on Colombia’s democracy. She expressed respect for every Colombian’s right to vote freely and wished for the elections to take place in a transparent and peaceful environment.
Recently, Shakira’s name has been in the spotlight not only because of this controversy but also due to major stage projects. It was announced that the artist will perform at the World Cup Final halftime show for the first time alongside Madonna and BTS.
Additionally, earlier this year, Shakira drew attention with a free concert at Copacabana Beach watched by over two million fans. These major events in her career have led to her name being frequently discussed on a global scale again.
