SpaceX will announce its first financial results on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, following the largest IPO in US history in June. The company's share price has been volatile since the IPO.
The stock is trading around $110, about 19% below its IPO price of $135. After climbing to $225.64 on June 16, it lost value due to short-selling pressure.
Revenue expectations and Starlink's role
Melissa Otto, head of research at Visible Alpha, part of S&P Global, expects SpaceX to report $6.9 billion in second-quarter revenue. The company posted a net loss of $4.9 billion on revenue of $18.7 billion in 2025.
Morningstar equity analyst Nicolas Owens forecasts Starlink subscriber growth of 93% in 2026, down from 229% growth in 2025. The company's broadband satellite network Starlink accounts for a significant share of its revenue.
AI revenues under scrutiny
Investors will closely watch the AI revenues that would justify SpaceX's $1.4 trillion valuation. The AI segment generated $818 million in the first three months of 2026.
IPO expert Professor Jay Ritter of the University of Florida highlighted the importance of AI acquisitions. Ritter noted that Cursor, an AI coding startup acquired by SpaceX, and the Grok chatbot, acquired from xAI in February, could contribute to the company's performance in the coming period.
Lock-up period expires
On Thursday, with the lock-up period ending, more than 911 million SpaceX shares will be unlocked. Worth around $100 billion, these shares are seen as a factor that could cause price volatility.
Short-sellers have already made over $8 billion in profit. However, Ritter stated that some investors could start buying as the lock-up period ends, easing selling pressure on the stock. Otto, on the other hand, said that if the second-quarter results paint a clear picture of the outlook for 2026 investments, it could give momentum to the shares.
