The Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI) and the Turkish-American Steering Committee (TASC) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation at an event held at the Turkish House in New York.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Muhittin Ahmet Yazal, Turkey's Consul General in New York, TACCI President Ali Kocak, TASC Secretary General Cilem Kanca, along with numerous chamber of commerce representatives, bureaucrats and businesspeople.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Yazal noted that Turkey is a country with a culture of cooperation, saying, "The business world is not just about making money. Business and commerce become better when structures are built through cooperation."
TACCI President Ali Kocak emphasized that the chamber's purpose is to help businesspeople. Recalling that they have signed memorandums of understanding with chambers of commerce from different countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and South Korea in recent years, Kocak said, "We want to expand our network further to benefit our own community and businesspeople."
TASC Secretary General Kanca stated that they are proud to serve as an umbrella organization for Turkish-American institutions. Kanca noted that they continue to strengthen the relations between the U.S. and Turkey, as well as the bonds of friendship, business, and community among all ethnic and international communities.
Following the speeches, Kocak and Kanca signed the memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation between the two organizations.
Under the agreement, the parties will work together to establish direct and effective business relations among their members and to facilitate inter-company meetings and local hosting activities. Support will also be provided for businesses in their respective regions to jointly conduct business in their own countries or in third countries. The two organizations will also cooperate to ensure the uninterrupted two-way flow of trade and to identify obstacles encountered and develop solutions.
