Witkoff met with UAE national security adviser
One day before Trump’s conversation with Sheikh Mohamed, White House representative Steve Witkoff met with UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the regional crisis and the next steps regarding Iran.
Iran and regional tensions
Washington is pursuing a new campaign of economic pressure against Tehran. Tensions in the region rose again following U.S. attacks inside Iran and Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. military facilities in the region, including in the UAE.
The latest escalation began on Sunday after a U.S. attack on Iran’s Larak Island brought an end to a period of nearly one month without conflict.
