U.S. President Donald Trump criticized raising interest rates despite improvements in economic indicators and called for rates to be cut.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said interest rates had fallen in the past when strong economic data was released. He argued that rates are now being raised because of fears over inflation.
Trump said rates should be lowered at a time when the economy is delivering strong results and reiterated his call for interest-rate cuts.

The Federal Reserve’s rate decision is awaited
The Federal Reserve has kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged so far this year. The bank’s next interest-rate meeting is scheduled to conclude on September 16.
