U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders discussed the state of economic and political cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement from the Kazakh Presidential Press Service, Tokayev congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence during the call. Tokayev emphasized that the United States had managed to become a powerful global power in a relatively short historical period, within the span of three human generations.
The Kazakh leader stated that the 'common sense policy' underlying the U.S. administration's domestic policy is essentially aligned with the Just Kazakhstan strategy, which is built on the principle of 'Law and Order' in Kazakhstan, and expressed support for Trump's policies.
Momentum in economic cooperation
Tokayev noted that high momentum has been achieved in implementing the important agreements reached during his visit to Washington last November. The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral economic cooperation and political interaction.
Commitment to nuclear disarmament
Tokayev confirmed that Kazakhstan's position that the proliferation of nuclear weapons and enriched uranium is unacceptable remains unchanged. He drew attention to the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency for strengthening the international control regime.
High-level contacts and invitation
The Kazakh President gave a positive assessment of the recent meetings held at Akorda with U.S. Senator Steve Daines, Special Representative of the U.S. President Sergio Gor, and other high-level representatives from the White House and American business circles. Tokayev also invited Donald Trump to make an official visit to Kazakhstan at a convenient time.
