Christiane Amanpour, CNN's chief international anchor, announced on Oct. 19 that she will leave the network next June after 43 years. "After many months of thought and a few sleepless nights, I have decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years!" the 68-year-old journalist said in a statement.
Amanpour has hosted her eponymous nightly interview program on CNN International since 2009. She scaled back to a few days a week in January 2025; from January 2027 the show will air once a week until it ends in May. She will continue reporting for CNN through June. Her PBS program, "Amanpour & Company," will end in December.

CNN Chairman Mark Thompson announced the decision in a memo to staff, calling her "one of the most trusted and beloved journalists anywhere." Amanpour, whose assignments ranged from the first Gulf War and the Bosnian War to Rwanda, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran, said she would always be rooting for CNN and its tradition of independent journalism. "Remember: always be truthful, not neutral," she said.
Amanpour said she will continue her podcast "The Ex Files" with her former husband, Jamie Rubin.
