Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made an unannounced visit to Israel on Oct. 19 and met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, The New York Times reported, citing two people briefed on the meeting.
The trip came a day after President Donald Trump publicly endorsed Netanyahu, who faces a tough campaign ahead of the Oct. 27 election. Hegseth also met Defense Minister Israel Katz. Details of the talks were not immediately clear, and Netanyahu's office did not respond to a request for comment.

The Trump administration has voiced growing frustration in recent weeks as diplomatic efforts have failed to produce a lasting deal to end the war with Iran, and Trump has threatened new strikes. Axios first reported the visit.
