U.S. President Trump addressed the agenda for his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi after a press conference on the health care sector at the Oval Office.
Trump said he would host Xi on Sept. 23 and added that he was looking forward to the meeting. Saying he expected the meeting to be highly productive, Trump said relations with China were progressing well and that he had a good relationship with Xi.
Trump said they would discuss many issues, including artificial intelligence, and recalled that he had imposed high tariffs on China. He said tariffs between the two countries would also be one of the key agenda items at the meeting.
Trump was also asked about the White House ban imposed on three U.S. media organizations. Referring to China’s pressure on journalists, Trump replied: “We also apply pressure. We have fake news media.”
Trump later corrected himself, saying: “We do not apply pressure, but we have fake news media.”
