US President Donald Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the NATO summit in Turkey has been moved to the end of the American leader's schedule. Trump will only meet with Zelenskyy at the end of the day amid his busy summit agenda.
Trump will arrive in Turkey on Tuesday and take part in the summit events scheduled for July 7-8. On Wednesday, the busiest day, his schedule will begin at 8:00 a.m. local time.
The White House had previously confirmed that Trump would meet with Zelenskyy on the margins of the NATO summit on July 8. The meeting is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. and last about an hour. After this meeting, Trump's schedule includes only a meeting with Syrian transitional President Ahmed al-Shara. Trump will then hold a press conference and depart Turkey.
According to Reuters a day earlier, the American leader plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin after his meeting with Zelenskyy.
The leaders held a one-and-a-half-hour phone call on Sunday night at the initiative of the US side. During the call, the situation in the conflict zone in Ukraine and the US mediation role were discussed. This was the fourth such call since the start of the year. The two leaders agreed to hold another phone call soon.
