Türkiye’s Embassy in Sofia paid a visit on Friday to the Türkiye Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria. According to the embassy, the two sides exchanged views on steps to further develop the countries’ multidimensional relations and cooperation, and on the role parliamentary diplomacy can play in that effort.

The embassy thanked group chair Nihal Özergan and the group’s members for their warm hospitality. Photos released by the embassy show the delegation meeting lawmakers around the parliament’s oval conference table and posing for a group picture on the building’s grand staircase.

Bulgaria, Türkiye’s neighbor and fellow NATO member, is home to a large ethnic Turkish community, and parliamentary friendship groups serve as one of the main channels of contact between the two countries’ legislatures.
