Turkish man dies after being punched in New York

52-year-old Kemal Karakatal, who was punched at Pitkin and Van Siclen avenues in Brooklyn, died in hospital. Police are searching for a suspect wearing a white tank top, white shorts, white socks, and black Crocs.

Turkish man dies after being punched in New York

52-year-old Kemal Karakatal, who was punched in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn on Thursday evening, has died.

Police received a report of an assault at the intersection of Pitkin Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Arriving officers found Karakatal unconscious and unresponsive. He had been punched in the face and fell to the ground, police said.

Paramedics took him to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.

Police officials described the suspect as wearing a white tank top, white shorts, white socks, and black Crocs, and said they are continuing the search. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
