The Critical Minerals Framework Agreement, aimed at strengthening cooperation in advanced technology and defense, was signed by the United States and Lithuania in Washington on September 17. Rubio and Budrys signed the agreement.
Rubio said the agreement was a very positive development. He said the two countries would jointly identify priority projects and that the government and private sector would take action within six months to finance them.
Budrys said that, after security, addressing economic challenges was the Lithuanian government's second priority. He underscored the importance of the strategic partnership aimed at establishing a strong supply chain with the United States.
After the signing ceremony, Rubio and Budrys also discussed other areas of US-Lithuania cooperation. Developments in Cuba and defense spending were also addressed during the meeting.
