US Central Command (CENTCOM) carried out a comprehensive military operation in response to Iran's attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM announced that over 80 military targets in Iran were struck with precision munitions.
In a statement on social media platform X, the command said, "CENTCOM forces immediately responded to Iran's recent attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz by launching a new wave of strikes on over 80 targets in Iran using precision munitions."
The targets struck included Iranian air defense systems, command and control centers, and coastal radar stations.
CENTCOM stressed that Iran's attacks on commercial ships violated the ceasefire regime in the region and undermined freedom of navigation in international waters.
The US military had also announced a day earlier that it had launched "a series of powerful strikes" against Iran in response to attacks on three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
