Lawmakers from both parties are calling for an investigation into Elon Musk after The Wall Street Journal reported that he directed a slowdown of Starshield, the military version of Starlink that Ukrainian forces use in their defense against Russia.
Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania said he has spoken with colleagues about investigating the slowdown when the House returns. Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff said the matter "deserves a full investigation by the Senate," adding that Musk "should be compelled to testify before Congress and under oath."

The slowdown earlier this month reportedly affected Ukrainian military drones, aircraft and helicopters. Musk initially said only President Trump could order such a step because Starshield is owned and operated by the U.S. government, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the White House "had nothing to do with that."
Musk responded to reports that Democrats plan to investigate him if they win control of Congress in the Nov. 3 midterms. "Live by the sword, die by the sword," he wrote, adding that those "who pick fights with me" should understand he would "come for them."
