US Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that the new trade agreements with Iraq stretch from the Kurdistan Region in the north to the south of the country. Wright emphasized that these agreements represent an approach that embraces all of Iraq rather than a regional cooperation.
Speaking to Kurdistan24, the US secretary said, "Today was a great day. A series of trade agreements were signed between US businesses and Iraq, from Kurdistan in the north to central Iraq and southern Iraq."
Wright clarified his policy towards the region, stating, "We want trade, not conflict, in Iraq and the Middle East. Prosperity for the Iraqi people, prosperity for the US. It was a great day."

These statements came during Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's contacts in Washington. According to the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office, the two countries signed a total of 48 agreements and memoranda of understanding, including energy, electricity, telecommunications, technology, education, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and industrial development.
Among the agreements is a cooperation aligned with talks in the Kurdistan Region, where regulatory processes have been completed for the launch of SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink in Iraq.
In the financial field, a new understanding was reached between the Central Bank of Iraq and the US Treasury Department, supporting the modernization of the banking system and improving conditions to attract international investment.
As Wright emphasized, these wide-ranging agreements aim to deepen economic ties between the two countries and increase prosperity in both Iraq and the US.
