Democratic US Senator Murphy criticized the Trump administration during an NBC News program and commented on the war that began with US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Murphy argued that a possible agreement with Iran would provide the government in Tehran with $100 billion a year in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
He argued that Trump had lost the war
Arguing that Donald Trump had lost the war, Murphy said the conflict had left the United States in a weaker position and Iran in a stronger one. The senator said the cost of reopening the Strait of Hormuz was rising every day.
Murphy argued that the money would represent a victory for Iran and that the government in Tehran could use the funds to support its military and proxy forces in the region.

He will not support ammunition funding
Murphy said the attacks on Iran must end and that the United States had been weakened in the process. The senator said he was prepared to support a bad agreement to reopen the strait and end the war, describing it as the only agreement option currently available.
Murphy also announced that he would not support funding to replenish the ammunition stockpile for the United States to continue its attacks. He said that if an agreement were reached with Iran and the attacks ended, he would be prepared to work to replace the ammunition used.
